Hello everyone! My name is Roel. By the time you're reading this, I have just finished my 4th year as a CS student. Apparently I'm supposed to introduce myself to you guys, so I'd like to do this in the form of a game: I'm gonna list 3 things, 2 from which are true statements about me and 1 is false. If you're interested in finding out which one's fake, then you can come up to me in the orientation week and I'll reveal all the answers to you :)

1: I used to play underwaterhockey for a while when I was younger

2: There's a rover on Mars that has my name stored on a chip

Being an almost-Nijmegenaar my whole life, I cannot wait to show you around the beautiful city, introduce you to all the ins and outs of the student life and of course give you a good start for this new chapter in your life.

Jeroen Brinkhorst

Hey there!

I'm Jeroen, 3rd year bachelor student and happy to see you all in the coming week! I personally spend most of my time on campus in the Mercator building working on my courses or doing other study-avoiding things. As such you'll probably be able to find me there! GROUP 9

Jorrit de Boer

Hi, I'm Jorrit, 24 years old and coming year I'll be a 7th year cs student. Many people have told me that this makes me old, but I very much disagree and I hope to be able to convince you that that is bullshit in the coming intro week. A little bit about me: I like bouldering, Formula 1, drumming, running every once in a while, and drinking a beer with friends. I hope you're looking forward to the intro, we're going to have a great time and its going to be a lot of fun!

Emily Jane Koppers

Gather round, children, and I shall tell a remarkable story...

Haha birth funny 19 years ago now alcohol and a bit study haha

See you in the introduction week!

Ruben Koelewijn

Hey guys, I’m Ruben, 20 years old and I'm a third year computing science student. My main mission is to make sure that your orientation week is as fun as possible and I’m never going to give you up, never going to let you down. My hobbies include football and being an academic weapon. If you see me feel free to ask me for a beer and have fun!

GROUP 10

Marijn Meuleman

Dear soon-to-be "sjaars" (first year students),

Welcome to my mentorgroup!

A bit about me:

I am Marijn, a fourth year CS-Mathematics (double) bachelor student. CS and Mathematics are unfortunately not the easiest bachelors, so like many others I will end up taking a bit longer to finish them, but I hope to be done next year!

I have my own little place in the student housing complex Galgenveld (but I do share a very dirty kitchen with some hallmates).

I try to come to uni every day, but because I really don't like lectures I often end up in the Library of Science to actually focus or in our beautiful Mercator building to sog (engage in study avoiding behaviour) with a cup of (free!) coffee.

When I'm not at uni I will often be at home cooking, gaming/watching videos, or participating in one of Thalia's many events like workshops or borrels.

The intro is a really fun way to get to know your yearmates, the study as a whole and Thalia, and hopefully make some friends. There will be many things you will like!

But some activities might be outside of your comfort zone. My advice: just try those out to!

We will be together as a group everywhere, so it will be fun either way! Moreover, you might find out you like something that you did not expect you'd like before.

I am really looking forward to the introduction and I hope I made you hyped too!

- Marijn

Paolo Maggioni

Hello hello! My name is Paolo and in September I'll hopefully start my master's degree, but this week I'll be one of your mentors. I am really looking forward to showing you what Thalia, the Radboud, and Nijmegen have to offer, so always feel free to come up to me for a chat.

I'm Italian but I am addicted to kapsalon, as you will be able to verify at the borrels. During the year you'll find me in Mercator, at most Thalia events, occasionally at the gym, or drinking a beer or two. Unless the sun is shining, then I'll go for wine.

I will do my best to make your introweek one you'll never forget!

So, you get the beers and I'll pay for shots?

Sarah Kuijper

Hey everyone!

I'm Sarah, 21 years old, and I will be one of the mentors this year. I am a third-year student, and I will be showing you around Nijmegen during this Introweek. When I am not studying, I love partying and hanging out with friends. I'm looking forward to meeting you this Introweek!

Some random facts about me are:

My favorite music genre is Drum and Bass.

My biggest weaknesses are peanuts and combinatorics.

I was declined for the army.

On my last holiday, my car got towed away by the police.

I am bad at bowling.

PS I'm the person on the right

GROUP 11

Emmy Postma

Hey hey, I am Emmy! I'm 23 years old and although I'm just heading into my third year as a computing science student, I have been studying at Radboud University for almost 5 years now. I have lived in Nijmegen my whole life, so I can tell you all you need to know about this amazing city. In my free time I enjoy (kick)boxing, going on walks, running, and hanging out with friends. I love (electronic) music, so you can often find me at our beloved 'Roosje' on Friday nights. I can't wait to meet you, and I hope you have a great time during your orientation week!

Vince van Diermen

T errific! You have done great by signing up for the introduction, since this is the most fun event of the year where you can get to know all your fellow 'sjaars' (first years)

R ight now you must be very excited, and so was I when I signed up for the introduction at the start of my first year, last year. I couldn't wait!

E specially because of all the new people I was going to meet. And me as your mentor is one of them! So let me introduce myself, I'm Vince, I'm 19 years old and I'll be starting my second year this year.

K eeping to the point of introducing myself, I like working out, playing video games and going out with my friends. You will probably see me at Thalia events often, and I hope to see you there too! (Trust me, they are really fun)

B y the way, I hope you are reading this and not skipping over it, my mentor in my intro spelled a secret word in this text to check if people were actually reading it, which I thought was quite fun

A lso especially since he won't be attending this introduction, I would like to continue the tradition, so if you tell me the secret word spelled by the first letter in every sentence I will buy you a beer or a soda!

K nowing all this about how much fun this into is going to be and kind of who I am (I got a little off track haha), I hope to have informed you enough and I'm looking forward to meeting you in August!

Rick Joosten

Hey new Computer Scientist!

I’m Rick, 21 years old and at the time of reading I will be in my third year here in Nijmegen. I love to play football, play some games (preferably involving alcohol) and screaming my lungs out while listening to music.

I am very excited to show you around the university, the beautiful city of Nijmegen and to give you a taste of what it’s like to be a student in CS. So don’t be scared to ask any question you want and let’s have an amazing week together!

GROUP 12

Anna Lorenz

Hello there! My name is Anna and I will be a fourth year student next year (still without a bachelor though). In my free time, I like to counter balance sitting at the computer by staying active like going to the gym and running. This is however not relevant for the introweek, which will be mostly partying! If you see me don't hestitate to come up to me for a chat!

Jesper Mol

Hi everyone, my name is Jesper and i will be one of your intro mentors this year who will introduce you to the awesome city of Nijmegen and uni life! I am  into cooking, watching movies, drinking wine and occasionally visiting the gym or going for a round of golf. I'm looking forward to meeting you all, i had a lot of fun in my introduction and will make sure you guys do too!

Lars Keijzers

Hello intro kiddos!

I am Lars at the time of the intro week 21 years old and this year will be my third year of studying computing science. I will guide you this week as one of your mentors. My intro week was one of the funnest weeks of my life where I met a lot of awesome people so this week will definitely be one you will remember although maybe not everything 🍻.

I hope to see you this week and afterwards at one of the Thalia borrels.

GROUP 13

Wouter van Ouwerkerk

Hello all!

My name is Wouter and hopefully I will have the honor of being your mentor this year (If not, sorry but you're missing out).

Now some information about myself: I am 21 years old and I am currently in my third year of the bachelor. Beside my studies I am active within Thalia, love playing football, music and hanging out with friends (sometimes with a drink in hand).

Most importantly I am very excited to give you an amazing week and show you the beauty of Nijmegen and studying here.

Kim de Waal

Hoiiii

I'm Kim and I'm 19 years old and I'll be entering my second year CS! This week is going to be a really fun and exciting week, so get hyped!! A little about myself: I'm from Veldhoven (right next to Eindhoven) (queue Kernkraft 400) (no my parents do not work at ASML), and my sense of direction is horrible. So if you see me wandering off for some reason, just know, I also have no idea where I'm going. Some of my hobbies are working out, going out, day drinking and sleeping. I hope to see you all in August :)

Esko Zimmermann

Hi all! I'm Esko and I am 21 yearls old. I am already in my fourth year of this amazing study and I am looking forward to showing you around in Nijmegen! Lets make this a week you will never forget!
